Pavlo Demchuk is a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics at Rice University. He holds an MA in Economics from Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, EERC program (Kyiv, Ukraine) 2005 and MA in Economics from Rice University (2011). He expects his MStat in Statistics and PhD in Economics in May 2012. He has two years of experience as a junior economist at the research institute Kyiv Economics Institute. His current research is in the field of production theory, specifically in efficiency and productivity analysis. His paper “Testing Differences in Efficiency of Regions within a Country: the case of Ukraine” written together with Valentin Zelenyuk and published in the Journal of Productivity Analysis is one of the top ten most downloaded papers of the journal. Together with prof. Robin Sickles Pavlo is co-organizing an international conference North American Productivity Workshop VII, which will be held at Rice University June 6-9, 2012.
